Tank waterproofing in Sydney is the first step to ensuring that your water is potable. Waterproofing is a process where you prevent leaks from happening. What many people do not realise is that it also keeps the water clean. Once there is a leak, the water will seep through the metal or concrete, and the leaking water will act as a bridge between the bacteria and the water inside your tank. We at ATM Tanks can prevent this from happening. Today, we will show you the different types of tank waterproofing in Sydney that we do for our clients.

Liquid Rubber To Waterproof Your Tank

This is one of the most common ways to waterproof a tank. First, we ensure that the surface of the tank is clean. Once we have cleaned it, we will allow it to dry, and then we will apply the liquid rubber primer. Prior to this, though, we will also cover the joints with liquid rubber seam tape, so the liquid does not go inside them.

Once that is set, the liquid rubber primer should dry for 12 hours. Next, we will apply the sealant, and then, apply two more coats and let it dry. One thing you should know is that once the liquid rubber is dry, have to wait for 14 days before we can re-attach the pipes. This waiting period allows us to ensure that the rubber is completely dry before we pour water in the tank.

Cement-Based Tank Waterproofing In Sydney

Another option we can offer you is the concrete type, and this is only applicable if the tank is made of concrete. It is ideal for aqueducts and cisterns. Sometimes, this is also called a cementitious membrane. Here are the benefits of cement-based waterproofing technique:

  • Savings on concrete – no need to add thick layers of concrete since the waterproof concrete can be used as a layer
  • Weather-independent – we can apply the waterproofing regardless of the weather.
  • Fast construction – after the tank is completed and the concrete is dry, we can immediately begin applying the cementitious waterproofing slurry. It also dries fast.
  • Longevity – concrete waterproof can last up to ten years.

Concrete is the right choice if your tank is made of concrete. These two are the main options that are most commonly used. At ATM Tanks, however, we offer more. If you like, we also have tank bladders that you can take with you. We also have models of tank bladders that fit inside the tank.

Tank bladders are also a great way to waterproofing your tank. They serve as liners that also control the pressure of the water inside. On top of bladders, cementitious lining, and liquid rubber, we also have options such as polyethylene, PVC, HDPE, and so much more.
